On Friday I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Kilusan Exchange show. I'm so proud to say that the artists are all good friends of mine and that this show was above and beyond all of my expectations considering the issues plaguing the exchange from the very beginning. The show was the culmination of a month long trip to Manila where the artists lived and worked together in an attempt to contextualize themselves within the social and cultural landscape of their motherland. Each and every artist came correct on every level. The impact of this visit on their work and on them as people was so evident . They all exhibited so much strength and maturity as artists, displaying deeply personal and versatile pieces that were executed with the utmost artistic and aesthetic sensibility. You guys are amazing and incredibly talented and I'm so proud of all of you.
